We are introducing Theme Days into our school meals. Theme Days link the menu to educational, cultural and national events; menus introduce healthy and nutritionally balanced food and introduce new tastes and flavours, which pupils may not have previously experienced. The menus are designed to be fun and encourage those who would normally bring in a packed lunch to sample a school meal. Lunchtime is not just for filling an empty stomach, it's a time to chat and develop social skills. By encouraging as many pupils as possible to take part in Theme Days, more children can enjoy a healthy meal with their friends. Our next Theme Day will be on Wednesday 24 May 2017 where we will be serving a Mexican themed menu for Tex Mex May: it would be great for all the students to try our delicious Mexican themed food!

Youth Dance Tynedale (YDT) is running two summer schools for 4-7 year olds and 8-19 year olds in July 2017 at QEHS. Click on the links below for the full details:

There will be a PTA disco on Thursday 25 May 2017, 6.30pm-8pm. The PTA have reviewed the procedures for the disco and as part of that parents are required to complete a consent form in order for their child to attend the disco.

As always we thank you for your support and hope you appreciate that the extra administration implemented is to safeguard your child.

As you may know, all the schools in our area are short of funds and Hexham Middle is no exception. You can help by donating any old or unwanted clothes.

Simply drop off any good quality unwanted clothes or accessories to the Cash for Clothes shop in Hexham and mention that your donation is on behalf of Hexham Middle School. For every 1kg received, Cash for Clothes will pay 40p to HMS PTA through an account.

The shop is situated on Maidens Walk opposite Marks & Spencer. If you are unable to take clothes to the shop, your child can take small bags directly to school where they will be held in Orchard Block before being collected and taken to the shop for donation.

For more information, please see the flyer from HMS PTA.

The HMS newsletter contains school news, information about upcoming events in and outside of school, general notices for parents/carers and dates for your diary.

An electronic copy of the latest edition (May 2017) is available on the Publications page.

Whenever you buy anything online you could be raising a free donation for Hexham Middle School. There are nearly 3,000 retailers including supermarkets, department stores, and mobile phone, insurance, energy and holiday companies, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to the school to say thank you for shopping with them.

We’ve raised £173 for the school so far, but £149 of this is from just three individuals.

It's really simple, and doesn't cost you anything. All you have to do is:

  1. Go to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/hexhammiddleschool/
  2. Sign up for free
  3. Get shopping – your donations will be collected by easyfundraising and automatically sent to the school.

There are no catches or hidden charges and we will be really grateful for your donations.
