Year 8 were given the opportunity last week to do some mouth-watering food styling in Food Technology. They were all given a Tunnocks Teacake to present with a range of fruits, biscuits and chocolate. We were very impressed with their final pieces!

In advance of a new academic year beginning in September, we know your children will be stocking up on items for their pencil cases ready for the Autumn Term. Please refer to the equipment list in your child's planner which is also available on the School Uniform page of the website. One essential item is a black pen and, whilst we don't stipulate what type, we always encourage children to avoid using biro. A black handwriting pen such as a roller-ball or ink pen (not necessarily a fountain pen) really does make a difference to the presentation of your children's work and is actively encouraged by the English team here at school! Please be aware of this when making stationery selections over the summer.

On Monday, three lucky Year 6 girls who were selected as finalists in a county-wide writing competition called ‘Women of the Wall’ visited The Sill outdoor learning centre to attend an awards ceremony.

A big well done to all the pupils, parents and staff who completed Tynedale Hospice’s charity walk, Hadrian’s Hike, on Saturday. Many thanks to all who sponsored the participants; our total just keeps going up and up! We’re looking forward to seeing what the final amount will be – watch this space!

Congratulations to Katherine, Elizabeth and Elodie (all in Year 6) who have been selected by the Hexham Book Festival as finalists in a short storywriting competition. These three will be attending an awards ceremony at The Sill on Monday 16 July 2018. Fingers crossed one or more of their stories wins a prize!
