We congratulate all pupils who have represented the school so well this term in a variety of sports. We have had a very busy time at Hexham Middle School and a huge amount of success. We are very proud of all our pupils.
Olivia Milburn, Year 7, ran exceptionally well to win the area cross country competition in her age group. Jemima Stewart, Year 6, and Steven Clark, Year 7, were second in their races. Other successful runners were Josie Cawood, Annie Stevens Year 7 and Olivia Stewart, Year 8, all of whom will represent Tynedale next term.
The Year 7 girls football team won the B team competition in a Key Stage 3 tournament, winning all of their games. The Key Stage 2 girls football competition was postponed due to wet weather but will be played some time next term.
In the Sport Hall athletics competition, the Year 8 girls won their event and will compete in the final next term. The Year 6 team narrowly missed out from being finalists by 2 points.
The Under 13 boys rugby team participated in a festival which drew in teams from state and private schools in the area. The boys played with skill and determination winning 4 of their 6 games.
A number of first school sports events have taken place on our site which Hexham Middle School young leaders have helped run and organise. The leaders are to be commended on carrying out their tasks so well, making the events go smoothly, encouraging the participants and making the competitions enjoyable for the children involved. The feedback we have received from our first schools has been very complimentary.
