Thank you to everyone who joined us for our carol service at Hexham Abbey on Monday evening and to families and friends who have supported the school throughout the Autumn Term.

On behalf of the staff of Hexham Middle School, we would like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

School will close for Christmas on Friday 22 December 2017 and will re-open on Monday 8 January 2018.

The PTA are organising a Festive Pop-Up Shop in school at lunchtime on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 December 2017. Children will be able to choose a gift from a selection of donated items and have their gift wrapped. All gifts will be sold for £2 (including wrapping).

All money raised will help the PTA fund more events and activities for HMS pupils and teachers.

Children who want to buy a gift can bring in £2 on Tuesday or Wednesday and visit the Festive Pop-Up Shop at lunchtime. PTA members will be on hand to staff the shop and help with advice. There will also be Year 8 pupils wrapping gifts and helping your child write out name tags.

This is a great opportunity to help raise money for the PTA as well as let your child do their festive shopping and not break the bank!

Please send any questions or offers of help with the shop to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Many thanks in advance!

On 23 November 2017, at 10.00am, eight Year 8 boys were part of an HMS team in a cricket tournament at Wentworth Leisure Centre.

HMS, Highfiled, Ovingham, Corbridge and St Josephs were competing to represent Tyndale in the County finals. HMS scored over 100 runs in every game, with a top score of 127 in eight overs. They were unbeaten throughout, and won the festival.

On Wednesday morning, a group of Year 7 students welcomed John Cobb, from local theatre group 'Theatre Sans Frontieres' to lead a drama workshop. The group worked on a scene from the Sherlock Holmes story, 'The Tale of the Speckled Band', which they're currently studying in English. It was an enjoyable and engaging workshop and the pupils worked extremely hard.

On 15 November 2017, 12 very talented bakers were selected to take part in the Hexham Middle School House Bake Off to raise money for Children in Need. The three bakers selected for each House had two and a half hours to bake and present a “traditional games” themed cake. The cakes were then judged and sold in slices at the Children in Need bake sale. We raised £100.12 for the charity.

The winning house was Coquet (Ella, Lucianna and Demi), winning 50 House Plus Points. The overall star baker was Lucianna Armstrong from 7NPA with her “Twister” cake. It was an extremely hard decision to make as all the cakes were fantastic.

Well done to all the bakers and thank you to everyone who was involved.

Thank you to the many of you who were able to attend last night's 'KS2 Curriculum Information Evening'. It was great to see so many of you! For those who were unable to attend, we have now added the resources to the Supporting maths and English at home area in the 'Curriculum' section of the website. We look forward to seeing you in school again soon.
