Following last year's Lepra event, Key Stage 3 pupils took part again in a Bollywood-themed fitness workout to raise money and aware of leprosy. This year we raised over £670, helping to cure 31 people of leprosy. An amazing achievement! Some pupils raised in excess of £25 and received a little gift from Lepra. Footwear Design has arrived at HMS
When you discover that students have designed and made something outside school and want to share it with you, most teachers will use this as an opportunity to show their praise and acknowledge effort.
I was particularly impressed when presented with a prototype for a trainer which would have commercial appeal. Using a range of materials and some components, the prototype was created using a mould. I was able to use this as an excellent resource to showcase a successful outcome, as well as relate this to their Dyson Design Box project in Year 6. From their first showcase, I was then presented by another two designs. The plan for these gentlemen is develop more concepts. Who knows, they may even set up their own company!

Year 6 SPAG Fair
On Friday 11 May 2018, many pupils in Year 6 were treated to a SPAG fair in Fellside Hall. Pupils in Mrs Roff's English class hosted the fair and all involved said it was a huge success. There were stalls testing everything from spellings to punctuation and grammar, many with tempting prizes and treats to reward hard work! Well done to all the pupils and a special thank you to those who hosted stalls.
