Year 6 SPAG Fair
On Friday 11 May 2018, many pupils in Year 6 were treated to a SPAG fair in Fellside Hall. Pupils in Mrs Roff's English class hosted the fair and all involved said it was a huge success. There were stalls testing everything from spellings to punctuation and grammar, many with tempting prizes and treats to reward hard work! Well done to all the pupils and a special thank you to those who hosted stalls.

HMS Learning Latin
We are very excited to announce that Key Stage 2 pupils will soon be given the opportunity to learn Latin at HMS. Thanks to the generous support of the PTA, the Primary Latin Project, Classics for All and Mrs Jarvis, a parent and Latin trainer, we will soon be offering a lunchtime club to pupils in Years 5 and 6 who wish to experience ancient Roman culture and take their first steps in learning Latin. We will be following the Minimus scheme, which is a fantastic book studied in schools worldwide and set at nearby Vindolanda.

John Lewis Innovation Challenge
How would you invent an old school blazer to give it a new life?
Hexham Middle School registered to take part in the John Lewis Innovation Challenge this year which involves re-designing an old school blazer into a new, unique and innovative product.
Four teams of Year 5 and 6 pupils are going to be taking part in the competition and have already started designing ideas and undertaking market research.
Last week we received four old blazers from John Lewis which they reclaimed from the charity NOAH.
Keep an eye on our website to see what our talented pupils create!
On Tuesday 1 May 2018, students in Key Stage 3 will be taking part in a Bollywood-themed aerobic fitness session to help raise awareness of LEPRA and the work they do to help cure people suffering from the debilitating effects of leprosy.
This was a very successful event last year and we hope this year to double the amount of money raised to help cure more people.
