World Book Day - tomorrow!
On Thursday 3 March 2016, all year groups at Hexham Middle are going to celebrate World Book Day. Normal lessons will take place, however our day will include an optional costume competition for pupils (and teachers!) who wish to come to school in fancy dress as a character from a novel. It will also coincide with a week-long book fair in Fellside Hall which has been kindly organised by the librarian Mrs. Hughff. Because of the generous support of the school's PTA, there will be no charge for this event. We hope that pupils enjoy celebrating World Book Day as part of the school's commitment to promoting a love of reading.

HMS Parental e-Safety Survey 2016
We take the security of your children on the internet extremely seriously; it is very important that we work together to ensure your their safety. Whilst use of the internet and social networking sites is second nature to young people, they can often be swept along with what their peers are doing and lack an awareness of the many risks they are facing.
Research has shown that up to 80% of internet use will take place outside of the school environment on a range of devices. With this in mind, I would ask that you take the time to respond to our 2016 Parental e-Safety survey by using the link below:

HMS Book Fair - next week
Next week HMS are excited to be hosting a travelling book fair which we know will prove very popular. As part of our commitment to supporting and encouraging reading, the book fair will be in school for 4 days and will provide pupils with the opportunity to browse and purchase books at their leisure. Due to the fact that next week is also World Book Day, each child will be provided with a £1 book token which can be redeemed against the cost of books at the fair. It will be situated in Fellside Hall and will be open Monday - Thursday at break times, lunch times and after school (during which time, parents are welcome to visit too!). We look forward to seeing you there.
