Athletics Update

18 athletes from HMS took part in the Tynedale Athletics Championships at Wentworth Leisure Centre yesterday. This event is a competition between Hexham, Ponteland, Prudhoe, and Haydon Bridge schools. The County Championships will be held at Gateshead Stadium on Saturday 28th June.

HMS athletes did brilliantly in a range of track and field events. We had a number of first places: Monty C came first in the year 7 800m; Amelie G won the year 7 200m; Tom G won the year 6 high jump and 80m; Benson H won the year 8 high jump; Charlie M won the year 8 800m and Gaby R won both the year 8 100m and long jump. HMS also had a number of second places: Isabel C was second in the year 6 girls’ 800m and Ossie D came second in the year 8 boys’ 1500m.

It was brilliant to see all of our HMS pupils performing to a very high standard and showing a positive, respectful attitude to sport once again. We look forward to hearing how our athletes do at the County Championships.

The overall competition was won by Prudhoe. Hexham Partnership came an excellent second place.

Respect. Engage. Aspire.
