HMS has a strong tradition of taking part in The Summer Reading Challenge each year. Children can sign up at their local library or online, and it’s free to take part.
The Challenge encourages children to keep reading during the summer holidays, ensuring they are ready for a great start to the new term in the autumn. Children set a reading goal and collect rewards for reading anything they enjoy.
This year’s Challenge, Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors, will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.
HMS pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 will receive bookmarks kindly provided by Hexham Library to promote the Challenge. Please follow the link here to find out more.

The Challenge is mainly aimed at children aged 4-11. However, pupils from all years are welcome to take part and can visit Ms Hayler in HMS Library for a bookmark plus information about the Challenge.
Happy reading!
