London Adventure… so far!
A group of very excited Year 7 pupils met at Newcastle Central Station on Monday morning to set off on their London Adventure! What a great week we have had so far. The pupils have had a fantastic time exploring London and we have packed so much into our schedule. All of the children are having the best time and they have been a joy to spend time with – it has been lovely to have lots of positive comments from staff and members of the public in the places we have visited so far.
Monday
After a smooth journey to London, we checked into our hotel after our first experience of travelling on the tube. After dropping off our bags, we headed back into London to explore the Natural History Museum before stopping for a lovely dinner at Pizza Express. To end the day, we travelled to the O2 Arena for a night of bowling and playing in the arcades – great fun all round!
Tuesday
It was an early alarm on Tuesday morning for a day of London sightseeing. Our first stop was an Open Top Bus Tour (with a little bit of rain just as we boarded to add to the fun!). After that, we had a chance to explore the South Bank and time to get a little snack (our favourite!) before boarding the London Eye to take in the sights from the sky – what an experience! We headed over the river to board our river cruise and were able to see all of the famous landmarks in London across the day. After all that exploring, we had a lovely dinner at Byron Burger before being mesmerised by the phenomenal Lion King The Musical at the Lyceum Theatre – it was outstanding!
Wednesday
Another very early alarm on Wednesday for an early breakfast before jumping on the train to Watford Junction for our day at Harry Potter Studios. What a superb day we had – truly magical! It was lovely to see the pupils embracing the magic and enjoying the whole experience. Of course, Butterbeer was a big hit at lunchtime and everyone was very excited to visit the Harry Potter gift shop! The group explored Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank, 4 Privet Drive and all of the famous Harry Potter sets including a workshop on creating Foley sound in films. After a fantastic day, we called back at the hotel before walking to Box Park Wembley for a few hours in the games room – the football was on too, which is always popular! We had a lovely evening meal at Frankie and Benny’s before heading for an earlier night!
Lots more to come over the next two days before we head home on Friday night. What a great time we have had so far. Lots of special memories being made and we’re looking forward to enjoying the next two days exploring the city!
