QEHS Winter Concert

The outstanding QEHS Winter Concert with many HMS students performing!

The concert, held in the Winter Gardens, was full-to-capacity as audience members watched a jam-packed programme of around 80 performers, featuring the school’s Show Choir, Wind Band, Jazz Ensemble, Session Singers, QEHS Choir, Soul Band, String Ensemble and a whole host of high-standard solos and duets.

The Show Choir is one of the cross-trust groups, featuring students from both HMS and QEHS.  The Choir performed ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

There were some outstanding vocal solos such as those performed by Lottie R in a performance of ‘The Ballad of Jane Doe’ from Ride the Cyclone and former HMS student Evie W in ‘Maybe This Time’ from Cabaret.

Wind Band performed ‘Jamaican Folk Suite’ and Soul Band wowed the audience with ‘Blame it on the Boogie’.

Brilliant instrumental duets included a piece of Pleyel performed by Anni G and her teacher Sarah Roberts as well as a Telemann flute duet performed by former HMS students Bess D and Lizzie B.

Bringing pop and rock touches were Daniel H with guitar and vocal solo ‘Tears from Heaven’, former HMS student Bea S in her bass solo ‘In the Meantime’ and grade 8 distinction drummer Joshua H performed ‘Schism.

Miss Tindall said: “We were delighted to present this concert and the audience loved every single performance within the concert.  We work really hard all year round in our extra-curricular activities and are proud to offer such a varied range of musical opportunities.  Performances such as these are a real highlight of the school year and give students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their hard work and talent.”
