Wow – what a great community effort from everyone at HMS today! Each form class worked hard to prepare their own stall for our ‘Big Children in Need Fair’ and it was a HUGE success! Our Chess Team had a very exciting evening at Bede Academy in Blyth as they took part in the first chess tournament of the year. It was a successful event and the team represented the school superbly! The team are so enthusiastic and highly-skilled and we can’t wait to see them going from strength to strength as the year goes
Over 150 HMS pupils visited Sunderland Empire to see a fantastic production of ‘War Horse’ yesterday. It was a powerful and moving show and everyone had a great afternoon. Year 7 study ‘War Horse’ as one of the texts in English lessons and this was a wonderful opportunity to enrich their learning. The pupils engaged well and enjoyed this experience!
This week, pupils travelled to Ovingham for the first round of the English Schools Cross Country. This is an individual event with the top 16 qualifying for the next round in January at Temple Park. We are delighted to say that we had fantastic results across both schools with 37 out of 50 students attending going through to the next
