Non-uniform Day 21 July

Wear Your Own Clothes Day! The final day of term (Friday 21st July) will be non-uniform. This will hopefully allow lots of you to consider donations to our ‘Go Green: Uniform Recycling Service’. If you have no use for your child’s HMS uniform after this term, please send in jumpers, polo shirts, PE hoodies and t-shirts, school shoes and football boots.

Well done, Betty! We are pleased to be able to share that Betty F entered a competition with Northern Gas Networks following on from her involvement in the Co Crew Go Bonanza Carbon Monoxide workshops. This week, Laura Ratcliffe from North Gas Networks came into school to present Betty with a certificate to acknowledge her achievement in being the runner up

Archaeology Workshop

Mrs Box and her daughter, Ellie, delivered a workshop in school last week themed around archaeology. Pupils were given the opportunity to select a craft activity focusing on classical and Egyptian archaeology. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the workshop, which lasted for 2 hours after school. Summer Music Evening

Athletics Success

HMS were in athletics action at the School Cup. 22 athletes travelled to Gateshead stadium to compete in the first event of the season. The competition is always tough as we are one of the few state schools to participate. Each time and distance is converted to a point score, the school with the highest points total wins the competition.

Maths Challenge

UK Maths ChallengeWe always look forward to the annual UK Junior Maths Challenge which encourages reasoning, precision of thought and fluency. The maths team have been so impressed with the positive engagement and the results.  A HUGE well done to Arthur D and Will C in Year 8 who have achieved the ‘Gold Award’. Forest School

Our Year 5 pupils love their Forest School lessons! The ‘Fellside Forest’ is always a calming, focused area for exploration and creativity! This week, the children applied this term’s ‘Skills Builder’ focus of ‘Creativity’ whilst making forest sprites. It is always great to see such excellent communication, teamwork and problem solving down in the forest school area. 

Art Success!
