Mr Barry’s Sports Round-Up: Y7 Football

The Year 7 boys team were recently in national cup action against Benfield. The boys started brightly and put the opposition under pressure from the start. That pressure paid off when a James S effort deflected in: 1-0 Hexham.  After Alex M had a goal ruled out for offside Benfield went up the other end and scored the equaliser… 1-1.

Hexham began to grow in confidence and after Josh was fouled in the box, the task fell to James S to convert the penalty calmly into the bottom corner: 2-1 HMS. Luke F thought quickly and put Jack W in who squared to Alex to make it 3-1.

Half time.

The incredible defence of Charlie, Sam and Aidan soaked up some early pressure brilliantly. Alex H was incredible in the midfield hunting down every ball. Early in the second half the pressure paid off as Jack W (who was magnificent from start to finish) poked the ball home from close range. Joe M was dictating the midfield and linked well with James S who chipped the keeper and completed a well deserved hat-trick to make it 5-1.

Luke F came close again and after strong hold up play the ball was laid off to Luke H who showed great vision playing the ball through to Josh R who capped a great individual performance with a great goal. Final score 6-1. Amazing performance and a huge thank you to Mr Johnson for coming along and helping!
