Here we are at the end of another school year. Today is our last day together on our current school site and this afternoon we’ll wave goodbye to the children from our current buildings for the final time. We are all so excited for the move to our new school in September – we can’t wait for you all to see it and for the children to experience our wonderful new learning environment (which I know they are very much looking forward to!).
This year has been another challenging one for everyone as we have continued to respond to the ever-changing restrictions and guidance. That said, it has been another year where the spirit, resilience and determination of our entire school community has shone through once again. We have so much to be thankful for – our brilliant pupils, our outstanding staff team and our supportive parents/ carers who have all made this a year to remember. The team at HMS have gone above and beyond to ensure that our vibrant school has continued to thrive and that our young people have had the very best learning experience bursting with opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.
I can’t possibly begin to pay a full tribute to our wonderful site steeped in its 111-year history in this post, but what I can say is that the ethos and atmosphere of our friendly, caring school will move with us for our new era. We look back on many happy, fulfilled years in these school buildings and reminisce about the fond memories captured by the generations who have attended school here throughout the years. I know that we will all be emotional when we walk out of here for the final time – there really aren’t many school buildings like Fellside! However, we look ahead with excitement to state-of-the-art learning facilities which we know our pupils truly deserve. We may be moving on, but everything we love about HMS moves with us!
I have written a more detailed update for you all which will be shared later today but, for now, I want to extend sincere thanks to each and every one of you for your positive support of our school over the past year. I wish you all an amazing, well-deserved summer break and look forward to seeing you all in our new school in the autumn term. Happy holidays!
