On Monday afternoon Key Stage 3 pupils were treated to a presentation from the acclaimed author Dan Smith. Many bought novels afterwards and stayed behind to get them signed. The presentation was followed by a writers workshop for a select group of 20 students; they thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working closely with Dan on their creative writing skills.
At the event, Dan also launched an exciting new short-story competition for our KS3 pupils. The short stories should be a maximum of 1000 words around the theme of Time Travel with the Romans. All genres are welcome: adventure, humour, fantasy, magic, detective or thriller!
Please bring your hand-written or typed entries to Ms Hayler Hughes in HMS Library by Monday 25th April. Hexham Book Festival will be hosting an awards event at The Sill on Wednesday 25th May for the winners.
