Hexham Middle School were proud to take part in the NFL Flag Football League over the past 6 weeks — an incredible journey that ended with an exciting finale at the Minnesota Vikings Flag Championship Day at Kingston Park Stadium!
After finishing 5th out of 10 teams, we earned our spot in the Championship Pool, competing for the top spot — a fantastic achievement that reflects the team’s growth and hard work.
We played four intense games, starting strong with two brilliant wins, showcasing exciting offensive plays and the solid defence that’s made us one of the top teams in the league.
Despite narrowly losing our next two games, we showed real grit and earned a place in the semi-finals, where we were beaten by the eventual champions. In the 3rd place playoff, it couldn’t have been closer! After drawing in regular time, the game came down to a tie-breaker — advancing from halfway to gain the most yards. We missed out by just a few yards, finishing a very respectable 4th overall.
Throughout the day, our players were praised by referees and organisers for their incredible progress, attitude, and teamwork over the past 6 weeks.
I’m so proud of every member of the team — not just those who played today, but everyone who’s been involved throughout the season and in our after-school club
A special shoutout to Peter for his leadership and brilliant game knowledge, which he passed on so well to our young players — thank you!
