Mr Barry’s Sports Round-Up: start of the year

Since September started we have had fixtures coming in from the start with all year groups already in action!

Year 6 boys football got off to a winning start in their league campaign with a 4-1 win against Corbridge with a man of the match performance from Theo C inspiring the team to victory.

Despite a sensational headed goal from Luke F and a man of the match performance from Jack W, the Year 7 boys lost 3-1 to a more experienced Year 8 team from Corbridge.

The Year 8 football boys bounced back from a narrow defeat to beat Highfield with a 2-1 score in a brilliant comeback win. Man of the match Ben B showed leadership and no-nonsense defending at the back whilst Cameron H scored an early contender for goal of the season to equalise before Sam D won it late on.

In a very different sport, all year groups were involved in the England Skiing School competition. The pupils performed exceptionally well throughout the day against competition competing at GB levels. Oscar F and Harriet S shone with lightning-quick times.

A busy but great start to the year for Hexham Middle School sport. In the next few weeks we have: rugby for all year groups, hockey for all year groups, football for all year groups, rounders for KS3, netball for all year groups and all of the regular sports clubs starting.
