Mr Barry’s Sports Round-Up: KS3 Rugby

Last week the Year 8 boys, Year 8 girls and for the first ever time the Year 7 girls have been in rugby action.

On Thursday the Year 7 boys were in Champions Cup action in a competition against some of the top teams in the area! They won their first three games brilliantly, scoring a huge number of tries. They sadly lost the final match to the defending champions in a close encounter.  Incredible stuff again from the boys.

On Friday the girls were in action. The Year 7 team played brilliantly, picking up an entertaining 3-3 draw in game 1. Game 2 was a very tough game against an experienced team who showed their knowledge and experience in their win. Game 3 was a very close contest but thanks to tries by Elissa and an Isabella hat trick, HMS were victorious.  Great first outing by the girls.

The Year 8 girls were simply incredible in their performance on Friday, picking up four wins out of four against St Thomas More, Blyth, Ponteland and Churchill. The girls’ attitude was perfect and their performances matched. The girls are still unbeaten in all of their games this year.
