Careers Education

School is now out for summer.

Best wishes to all our year 8 pupils who are moving on to pastures new, enabling them to have new experiences and prepare for their futures. We hope that our year 8 pupils enjoy their studies and new subjects in year 9, and that they continue to have conversations with others about their pathways in life to get that dream job.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic this year, we have been planning what careers education will look like next year from year 5 upwards. As we seek to establish a ‘new normal’, one area of school life that we think is of importance is raising aspirations.

With this is mind, perhaps we recommend parents of current year 7 pupils in particular, have discussions with their children over the summer about possible career aspirations. Use the following link below as a reference to base the discussions you may have with your child: https://careermap.co.uk/careermag-parents/

In year 8, the finale of our careers education programme will provide a range of experiences that explore different pathways, further education opportunities and apprenticeships.

We look forward to engaging with all parents in the new academic year.  The Covid-19 pandemic is most likely to have a long term economic and social impact on society.  If you feel that you can support our careers education offer in any way please do not hesitate to contact us in September.

Many thanks
