Skipping at HMS!

As part of our commitment to active and healthy lifestyles, we are sending everyone at HMS a skipping rope. We hope that you can put the rope to good use in the garden, in the back yard even on a dog walk! Short quick blasts of skipping three times a week is a great workout and even more importantly great fun. It is important to have a smile on your face in these uncertain times. Weekly skipping will help improve your speed, agility, quickness and endurance and will put you in a great position to restart your favourite activity after lockdown – whether this is a team game, dance or individual activity.

I am hoping you have already found the skipping challenges – learning skills and time-based challenges – I have been adding to your weekly PE online activities. We had been planning to get ‘Dan the Skipping Man’ into school to run a coaching day before we were in lockdown. So, a rope of your own will help you to access his videos and learn new skills. If you do not have a rope yet, it should arrive over the next week. I hope you will invest small time blocks to get moving, improving and smiling.

Each week we will show you some of the teachers skipping so you can see how we are all skipping with a smile. We would be delighted to hear about your progress at home.
