International Women’s Day

Celebration of International Women’s Day

To help celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, Northumberland County Council have their annual competition for schools.  We have entered this before and attended presentation events in Morpeth.  This year there is a new category called ‘Digital Project’.

The categories for different competitions are as follows:

Art – Produce a drawing of inspirational women from Northumberland.  (Submission needs to be posted – see address below).

Poetry – scribe a poem relating to inspiration women from Northumberland (300 words maximum). Please click here for more details: International Women’s Day Poetry Competition

Short Story – produce a short story regarding the experiences of a fictitious inspirational female character set in Northumberland (1,500 words).  Please click here for more details: International Women’s Day Short Story Competition

Inspiration Young Woman Award – nominations for any young woman attending full or part time education within Northumberland under the age of 25 years

Submission Criteria:

-The individual nominated needs to be able to demonstrate that they make an outstanding contribution to residents within Northumberland and/or the County itself.

-The individual nominated needs to be a resident in the County of Northumberland

Digital Project – Record a video, create a digital graphic on a Northumberland female that is an inspiration to them, not necessarily someone famous.

For our school pupil entries will fall into the years 5-8 category.  Please specify the pupils name, age category and school on any submissions.

The winner of each category will ensure the school gets £200 and a £25 book voucher for the winning entry.

Runner Up schools will receive £100 and a £20 book voucher for the runner up entry

Closing date for entries: 5pm,  Friday 12 February 2021
