This week, Year 5 pupils were given the opportunity to represent HMS in a sporting fixture. Two boys’ teams and one girls’ team participated in a home football fixture against Ovingham Middle School. The Year 5s were not phased by the dreary weather and were able to put on a valiant performance against an experienced Ovingham side. All players demonstrated respect to their teammates through raucous cheers, and efficient substitutions, and to their opponents by checking in on injured players and shaking hands after each match.
All players engaged extremely well, and played their hearts out. All HMS players aspired well and made lots of positive runs in their plays, one of which culminated in a spectacular goal by George R, and a very close hit off the crossbar by Sam G. Overall, Mr Nichol was thrilled with the efforts of all HMS players and was proud of all of them. A special thanks goes to the HMS parents who braved the weather to support the team!
