Aspire and National Careers Week

It is Aspire Week at HMS, as well as National Careers Week, and we have lots of different events going on. All week we have different activities for all year groups.  These are being shared with pupils and include, form time careers-related activities, online webinar chats with some key speakers, competitions, and careers quizzes. Pupils can also learn about career pathways of different staff in school.

Don’t forget that there are great resources online that parents and carers can engage with and support their children to learn more about different career opportunities in this fast, ever-changing world.  Come with us on this journey.

Raising aspiration – ‘Aspire Week’

Aspire is one of our core values at Hexham Middle School.  We fundamentally believe that school or education is more than just a transaction i.e. ‘What do I get out of it?’  Yes, we know that schools play a crucial part in preparing pupils for the next step of their life’s journey and we wholeheartedly wish each and every pupil achieves their full potential. However, there is a desire to develop a culture of Engagement in our school community.  This presents in many different ways, including active participation, a hard-working ethic and an eagerness for outstanding learning. Ultimately, it all starts with Respect.  We believe that our pupils need to respect themselves – a cornerstone foundation of flourishment. This week, we are asking our pupils the question, “What is school for?”  Please engage in a conversation with your child around this question.

Happy NCW 2025

Respect. Engage. Aspire.
