Before half term, lots of pupils enjoyed a fantastic art experience at the Baltic in Newcastle. Pupils participated in an artist workshop led by artist, Lottie, who is a master of cardboard sculptures. Pupils then explored the issue of climate change, creating 3D sculpture work inspired by contemporary artwork that was displayed in the art gallery.
Pupils studied artwork by contemporary artists linked to themes such as conflict, body image, printmaking, and typography. They learned how artwork can communicate powerful messages and meanings that may not be immediately obvious. Pupils viewed artwork created for the BHA Honours Degree Show at Newcastle University and it was brilliant to see how much they admired and engaged with the artwork.
What an experience – thank you to Miss Taylor for organising the visits.
Respect. Engage. Aspire.
