Tyne Rivers Trust Visit

Tyne Rivers Trust visited HMS last week to deliver a workshop about rivers tying in with the year 6’s current geography topic. They brought an interactive river model which showed different rivers around the North-East region. The year 6 pupils enjoyed learning about different strategies that the Tyne Rivers Trust use to monitor and reduce the flow of the river

Fire & Rescue Service Visit

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service visited Year 6 and Year 8 this week to deliver hugely important water safety sessions. The children listened with interest and asked lots of important questions. The fire service delivered essential messages on water and river safety, including their role in saving lives and pupils engaged in a practical session to learn life saving techniques.

Key Stage 2 STEM Club

KS2 STEM Club have been busy space scientists over the past few weeks, designing their own rockets. The sessions built on their knowledge of forces, particularly gravity and water pressure. Theatre Sans Frontiers

On Friday afternoon, year 5 watched ‘Les Aventures de Lapin‘ – a theatrical production based on folktales from the French-speaking Caribbean.  A fun filled show told through live action, puppetry and catchy songs. Pupils particularly enjoyed singing ‘Moi, j’adore les bananes’ and ‘Zobolak le Zombie’.  Before the performance, all pupils took part in workshops led by Theatre Sans Frontieres, which was fantastic preparation

Non-uniform Day 21 July

Wear Your Own Clothes Day! The final day of term (Friday 21st July) will be non-uniform. This will hopefully allow lots of you to consider donations to our ‘Go Green: Uniform Recycling Service’. If you have no use for your child’s HMS uniform after this term, please send in jumpers, polo shirts, PE hoodies and t-shirts, school shoes and football boots.
