World Mental Health Day

Tuesday is World Mental Health Day and it’s all about raising awareness and driving positive change for everyone’s mental health. It’s also a chance to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it and how important it is to get help if you’re struggling.  As part of our focus, we will be setting the ‘Britain Get Talking’

STEM Event

We welcomed Newcastle University again this morning to work with our Year 7 girls in a workshop focused on STEM. The session focused on careers in STEM and the power of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in opening up opportunities. It was great to see such positive engagement! 

Welcome to HMS Arlo!

It was Arlo’s first day working at our schools today. The children were very excited to see him at breaktime. Here’s Jack showing Arlo around HMS and welcoming him to the school. We are looking forward to seeing him around school as the term goes on.

House Captains

Democracy was in action at HMS on Friday as we held our annual House Hustings. I am delighted to announce the results of the election and this year’s House Captain team. BBC 500 Words

This week, Year 5 joined the live launch of the BBC 500 Words short story competition. Year 5 listened to this year’s judges including Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Francesca Simon and Charlie Higson who shared tips and answered questions on the writing process. World Mental Health Day

Pupils are invited to take part in ‘Hello Yellow Day’ on Friday 13th October. It will be a ‘wear your own clothes day’ for all pupils with a focus on wearing something yellow. If pupils don’t have anything yellow, non-uniform is absolutely fine. If your child would rather wear their school uniform, that is fine too.  We’ll be focused on both mental

European Day of Languages

Wow – Mr Armstrong was blown away by the engagement in this year’s ‘Bake Off’. With over 65 phenomenal entries, judging was a very tricky task for all involved. Year 5 enjoyed an inspiring visit from Newcastle University yesterday. The workshop presents the ‘Story of Earth’ from its very first day through to now, with a variety of exciting experiments along the way. Mr Nichol enjoyed being asked to join the show along with some pupil volunteers.

Head Pupils
